I finally finished this skirt! The cut pieces have been in my work-in-progress drawer for months now. This heat wave we've been having spurred me on to get it completed, and today I wore it to the beach and dripped ice cream on it. Luckily I'd already taken some pictures.
The pattern is Simplicity 2226 which is a 'Learn to Sew' one, meaning it's fairly basic and well explained.
I'll definitely be making another. I love the pockets. I'm thinking that a plain fabric skirt with a colour contrasting patterned pocket would be good.
The fabric is Free as a Bird by Cloud 9 Fabrics that I bought from M is for Make. Oh how I wish they would reissue it... maybe as another colour way... mustardy ochre?
So pretty! It looks wonderful. I love that fabric, and the drape would be just right for that pattern. I made it out of a heavier quilting cotton and it was too sticky-outy... for my next attempt I'm going to use lawn. In fact, the pieces are already cut out and sitting in my sewing drawer...
ReplyDeleteI am very jealous, such a beautiful skirt, I adore that fabric - it all sold out before I got some for myself! I'll be looking out for that pattern...
ReplyDeleteIt's great Vicky! I'm sure the ice cream dosn't show up much on the lovely pattern.
ReplyDeleteThat's a fine looking skirt and I'm sure the ice cream blends in well!
ReplyDeleteOooh, great skirt - love it. You used my favourite fabric. :-) I have 1/2m here that I am 'saving for the right project'...
ReplyDeleteI see you are ready for the summer, looks really good
